End Game (Heavy Song)

This was one of the first large scale recordings I ever did. It has umpteen layered guitar parts and live drums, but the bass was MIDI I think. I went a little crazy with the old reverb and delay, but it does suit the mood of the song, although I wouldn't use anywhere near the same amount if I recorded it again! The drums were recorded in a very strange way too. Don't forget this was back in t'day when my resources were quite limited. I only had one mic and one mic input for the PC so what I did was record each drum and cymbal on a separate track! I do NOT recommend this! firstly it takes bloody ages, but also the timing is incredibly hard to get right as you end up sat there with a pair of headphones on, a drum between your knees and just hitting it every now and then on odd off-beats. The advantage of this is that there is no spillover between the drum tracks so you can truly pan them wherever you need. This is also a big disadvantage! The spill over on normal drum recordings means that when you start panning things about it creates a wonderful organic spatial sound which you lose with this technique :-(. I was only learning at the time so I don't think its a bad effort all things considered :-). When I started my band, 23 Beasts, we adapted this song as 'End Game'
