Scandinavia

July 2008. After visiting Italy twice with Sarah and her folks in their motorhome we decided a complete change of tack was in order this year and so we set off for Scandinavia! The plan was to take in the capital cities of Denmark, Norway and Sweden and obviously loads of interesting random bits in between. The route started from Harwich in eastern England and we sailed into Esbjerg on the west side of Denmark. Then travelled across the 3 main islands of Denamrk to reach Copenhagen where we stayed for a few days. We then took the Øresund bridge over to Sweden where we headed North to Oslo. Unfortunately we had to miss out Göteborg on the way due to time contraints :( After Oslo we headed pretty much directly east towards Stockholm where the trip ended. The weather for almost the entire trip was stunning - clear blue skies, pleasently warm and of course it hardly ever gets dark so the day lasts a very long time :) The people and culture are very much in tune with me and both the cities and scenery are beautiful. I am bewildered as to why it is not a more popular summer holiday destination!
